研究项目PhD Title:
Developing and translating 3D printing of Traditional Chinese Medicine Formulations
导师Supervisors:
Prof Clive Roberts (School of Pharmacy) and Prof Ricky Wildman (Faculty of Engineering, Additive Manufacturing)
项目描述Project Description:
3 year PhD Studentship
In collaboration with a major Chinese Pharmaceutical company, as well with the Centre for Additive Manufacturing of the Faculty of Engineering at Nottingham we will collaborate to develop 3D printing for the manufacture of personalised medicines based on Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM). TCMs which consist of complex mixtures of active components are well suited to a bespoke 3D printing manufacturing approach.
We have to date demonstrated a number of firsts in 3D printing of medicines, including the first polypill, the first ink jet printed tablet and complex tablet geometries that can be used to control drug release. We aim to show in this collaborative PhD project that viable numbers of tablets at a suitable quality can be produced using extrusion and ink-jet based methods from TCM feedstock with controlled 3D architecture and compositions designed to control drug dosages and release capable of personalisation for a patient.
要求Requirements of the studentship:
• UK or EU candidates should have, or expect to obtain, a first-class or 2:1 degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry or related discipline.
• International candidates are welcome to apply from similar disciplines but should note that there will be some requirements for additional funding which can be discussed on a case by case basis with Prof Roberts.
• Applications can be made online or alternatively please send a copy of your covering letter and CV to clive.roberts@nottingham.ac.uk.
• The project is available to start on 1st February 2020.
• Please refer to the project title when sending your e-mail/application.
